Maine Opener- A beautiful day, lots of other hunters out, lots of shooting and
even a few ducks! These were the first BWT that I had shot in Maine- young of
the year or just still in eclipse plumage.
Bought this new 15 foot Tracker
Grizzley with a 4 stroke motor. Quiet
running motor and a safe, stable boat.
Just right for two hunters, a dog and
gear.
October-Opened the Montana duck
season with Will and his friend John.
What a place to open- we killed plenty
of ducks and never heard a shot from
another party! Gadwall and wigeon
right on the natal prairie, Brady made
some of his first retrieves.
We had a great time in Montana and
are planning another early season
hunt to the pothole region, this time to
North Dakota.
Will was home at Christmas (as was
Rich) and we shot these ducks in NH.
We broke ice all the way to our chosen
spot and broke ice to make a hole for
the decoys and everything looked
perfect- then the tide shifted the ice
and we had to launch the boat to
retrieve the decoys. Of course ducks
flew the entire time we were in the
boat! Not a perfect day but worth every
minute.
December- Will and I met in
Salisbury, MD,a day later than
expected, after being grounded
by a blizzard. We hunted some
beautiful Eastern Shore
marshes where we shot a few
ducks, even two full plumed
BWT (a first for us)!
Early March- Will and I ended our
waterfowling seasons in Missouri.
These snow geese are on the Spring
migration and have just arrived in the
Squaw Creek NWR.
Although we saw geese by the tens of
thousands we shot very few but the trip
to MO was once in a life time and worth
the 2 thousand mile trip!
March- Back in Indiana. Brady loved these
game-farm pheasants!
